As a fervent devotee of horology and a collector of fine watches, Carlos Dias finally decided to dedicate himself entirely to this luxury goods sector

in 1993.Building on the vast range of experience accumulated during his fruitful career, he decided to found his own company during the summer of 1995, under the name SOGEM (Société Genevoise des Montres).

The title Manufacture Roger Dubuis appeared in 1999 only when Carlos Dias deemed the firm “deserved and was not usurping the status of a Manufacture”.

In 2001, he designed the new corporate headquarters built in Meyrin (Geneva).

Manufacturing independence was achieved in 2003 with its own production of balance-and-spring regulating organs.

In 2004, he completed the second phase of this industrial complex that greatly enhances the brand’s credibility. Traditional and modern.

In 2005, the second building served to regroup the 500 employees in a single 14,500 square-metres site. The 120 machines of its micromechanical engineering workshops produce the entire range of parts for the proprietary ROGER DUBUIS movements. This fully verticalised and state-of-the-art industrialisation brilliantly endorses the company’s status as an authentic Manufacture.

In April 2006 six new movements were presented at Geneva’s Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH), three of them for the first time. They were fitted mainly in the latest Excalibur models, one of the brand’s flagship collections, and bring the number of movements manufactured to 28, each of which is hallmarked with the Poinçon de Genève, sometimes referred to as the Geneva Seal.

An exhibition organised at the SIHH in 2007 displayed all 28 movements, thereby demonstrating the brand’s exceptional heritage.

In April 2008, Roger Dubuis presented a new collection, called KingSquare. Bursting with the brand’s DNA, this square model features highly studied technical specifications. Its construction is unique and its overall design astonishingly innovative as it opens a new field of innumerable styling variations.

One of them is the lavish model with a skeleton movement, which has been restructured to transform the skeleton movement from a great classic to a totally contemporary work of art.
